Record of births, marriages, and deaths, 1735-1862, among the Singleton and Richardson families of Kershaw District and Sumter District, S.C., chiefly the descendants of Col. Matthew Singleton (1730-1787) and Mary James Singleton (1735-1784), including their son, John Singleton (1754-1820), and his five children with wife Rebecca Richardson Singleton (1752-1834), including Matthew R. Singleton (1783-1793). Vital statistics copied from entries in a 1770 edition of the Church of England's Book of Common Prayer (volume stored off-site); includes inscriptions: "Matthew Singleton his Book, July 9th 1774"; with additional entries in the hand of Alice Singleton and others.
